13 Days of Midnight

13-days-of-midnight13 Days of Midnight is a relatively new book from a very new author, Leo Hunt. For anyone who likes ghosts, demons, obscure summoning rituals and occult mysteries, then this is for you. It has also been compared to Skulduggery Pleasant.

When Luke’s estranged father dies, Luke inherits six million dollars and… some ghosts. Some are helpful… and some want to kill him. Quickly Luke’s love life is ruined, his mother falls sick and some very strange ghosts begin to turn up to molest him. But he has help from Elza Moss, a girl who can see ghosts and protect herself from them…

A bit slow to get into things, but creepy and enjoyable, I recommend this for 11 years and up. I think it’s more like a Gothic devil-worship book than Skulduggery Pleasant, but maybe that’s just me.

Final verdict: Haunting. 4 out of 5
